PS The old Whitbread attracts lots of entries and the AP odds don't usually reflect those numbers, but, by eliminating those double booked in the SN and those that ran in the GN, one can get down to a manageable number. at decent odds. Also most Irish entrants give it a miss but this year Mullins was likely to run his due to the British trainers championship. What an achievement that was and he'll probably try it again to equal or beat the great Vincent O'brien's record. Some SN runners also run in the Whitbread the following week, but unusual for them to succeed which is why I didn't have Kittys Light last year.

Am I right in thinking that these Minella horses don’t seem to have the breathing problems that many horses have? And that Willie Mullins doesn’t seem to be constantly giving his horses breathing operations?

Someone wrote on a forum a long time ago( can’t remember who or which forum) that there was someone that made a point of sourcing horses that had been bred without breathing issues.

Well done Mike Campo on your big win! 🥳 Thought he was the eyecatcher in the IN with all that weight in mud. Agree re the ground, the pedigrees of yesterday's winning horses and those running best suggested alot more juice than just plain 'good' there really isn't any accurate detail other than your eyes. Cocooner is a Flemensfirth, has a bit of that Tidal style about him, so obviously he's my horse and I'm hoping for more fantastic finishes! Flemensfirth didn't quite become a 4m sire, something to bare in mind, but 66-1 GN is a nice ticket with a nice horse and a reasonable team 🤣. Townend and Mullins picking their other big hope was a worry yesterday, luckily they were wrong although and as anticipated both were in the first three. Nice finish to the season and for several of our awesome team! although Punchestown looks fun, I'll be about for that.

The Last Samuri was 2nd in the National on bad ground, if it hadn't rained that year he might have won. He's a Flemensfirth. Magic Of Light another one, 2nd to Tiger Roll. Beshabar another one, won the Scottish National. And Old Vic as a damsire may not be a bad thing, though I don't claim to be a breeding expert.

Yeah, close is almost as good as a win I agree and I've backed most of those 4m attempts. Still think Tidal could have won GN, let alone TLS and Magic.

This may be a stupid question but why don't they make a horses stable a bit bigger? esp if they are stone or brick walls.

If they roll next to the wall they can get cast no matter how much room they have around them. The second high profile horse to die in this way recently.

2nd? So sad, horses can get understandably for them upset by getting stuck. I always prefer to see horses in more barn like wood conditions, I assume it's the safer material, that or a padded cell!
Interesting link about living requirements Mike, if I ever get to live in the countryside round here with some land, I'll be looking at getting a local donkey to keep things in order.
